In a market that most organizations and their employees feel the intricacies of Russian economy – a key ingredient for businesses and event planners searching in their keynote speaker is the ability to make people laugh. Yes, they want results. Yes, they want change. Yes, they want motivation. But they usually include that before any of these things can happen – they gotta get their team members or audience to sit, read and trust the person on the scene and one of the best ways to do that is through humor.

Julie. Connie is a great story – and I heard you – You are funny, so I “m glad the title stuck! May be a “speaker funny” is in your DNA! Now, tell me more about why humor is so important. Do not you think that most organizations today are dealing with serious issues and would think that humor would be distracted from their desire to get people motivated andConnie: Yes, I agree with this – however, Many organizations completely underestimated the power of humor. They may feel they dilute the message and remove the seriousness of the issues to be discussed. However, my research shows that humor – is the right course – does exactly the opposite. I can not even imagine trying to tackle some difficult issues, I am invited to respond, but my ability to bring humor in every situation. Let’s face it – the public can not make slideshows, statistics and charts for so long – right?

Connie: First, take a look at their website. If “funny” comes first – then you might not have the right speaker to deliver powerful messages of long-term you want. And make no mistake, there are times when funny is that anyone would like a presentation after dinner. And I am very well do that. But I still want my comedy to have so much more bang for your buck! I want to be the glue that holds the tools and strategies bring together.

Second, pick up the phone! I always recommend to have a very open dialogue with any speaker you are considering for your event. Be sure that when you talk to them that you communicate your needs and expectations of organizations. Go ahead and tell them you want a funny speaker to help lift the spirits and motivate your team, but let them know you want more than that. As I said, comedy can be an extremely powerful vehicle to deliver an incredible message if used in the right way.

Julie: I love this -. “The humor with a purpose.” Clearly not everyone agrees with this well as they should. I know that some meeting planners are afraid to hire someone who is regarded as a speaker funny. They may have had some bad experiences with speakers that were inappropriate or less politically correct. Can you share the fine line between being funny and being rude or inappropriate platform

Connie: I do not think there is a “fine” line – I think that there is never a situation where? even a “funny” speaker should use humor inappropriately. If people want to pay money and go to comedy clubs where this type of humor is very common, is their business. But in a business, humor business environment must be professional, appropriate, fun, useful and comfortable for everyone in the audience. That’s why I chose “corporate comedy” on “Comedy Club”. Julie “oh so true!” What about people who do presentations themselves? What advice do you have to help them incorporate more humor in content
